Oxford Staff Members Recognized By Congresswoman For Recreation Programs, Substance Abuse Work

HAVERHILL, M.A. — Therapeutic Recreation Director Donna Byrne and Substance Abuse Counselor Joe Hannon at The Oxford Rehabilitation & Health Care Center were presented recognition certificates by Sophia Gross, Outreach Liaison for Congresswoman Lori Trahan of Massachusetts’s third congressional district, for all the work they do for their residents and those managing substance use disorder.

The Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition presented to the pair on April 5th, states, “Your dedication to offering compassionate care to those with substance abuse will leave a lasting impact on the Merrimack Valley and beyond.”

Byrne has been at The Oxford for more than two years and Hannon for four and a half years. Hannon, who is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Alcoholic and Drug Counselor 1, said he treats residents with kindness and empathy. He said residents may feel like they cannot help themselves past their struggles when moving into a rehabilitation center, but will start to feel deserving overtime as the staff helps and offers an emotionally safe environment.
